Did anyone here go to Edwards AFB for last years Airshow?

Okay; they finally picked a date for the airshow this year; 2 weeks after Miramar here in San Diego! Talk about a tune up! I'm stoked.

Miramar 10/14
Edwards 10/28

BUT; on the Edwards Air show page; it says NO backpacks are allowed (Even a childrens backpack). WTF!? Was it like this last year?

It doesn't say anything about waist pack style bags. I sold my Photorunner; but may have to get something to use.

Anyone have any ideas/feedback fro other Airshows? Miramar has never been that restrictive. I brought my Camelback in under my photo backpack last year and no one blinked. I'm totally dumbfounded!

I went to Edwards last year (pictures here (http://www.pbase.com/ladycrumb/edwards_2005) and here (http://www.pbase.com/ladycrumb/b2_gallery)). I know I took a backpack into Miramar last year but I don't remember doing so at Edwards. I just stuffed everything into my vest and carried in the case for the Bigma. It was rather amusing when they asked me to remove the vest because it had a lot of stuff in it. They then searched my Bigma case and my foldable chair and ran the metal detector over myself. I then put my unsearched vest back on and merrily went onto the base :lol:

BTW, if you have the chance go to the Nellis airshow as well.

I went to the air show on miramar last year. You got to remember that miramar is actually a pretty relaxed base. They dont require military tags on your car to get on the base like every other base I have been on. At 32ed street (another base in san diego) you have to have tags on your car just to get on the dry side (where the commisary is and day to day military operation is not).

I dont know if it is because it has housing on base but I have been to two other bases (one navy and one AF) that had housing on base and they were stricter than miramar.

I am not surprised that the rules are more relaxed on miramar vs. edwards.
