I hear alot of people talk about sending their camera's/lenses to CPS for repair -- which I believe is Canon's Professional Services.

Is this some secret society? How do you join, or contact this Service? I go to the Canon website and get directed to CPS-Europe. I'm in the state of Maryland, USA.

Any link, or information would be helpful.

Ask your local CPS rep... Tee Hee....

To join you need 1 pro body ( 1/10/20/30 ) and 3 L lenses

Here is the door to the European one : http://public.cps.canon-europe.com/

In the UK they just invited me to go play with all their toys at Sliverstone when the World Superbikes are testing... sweet.

United States is not a supported Country in the list. Where do the folks in the US send their cameras/lenses to for repair? I hear them mention CPS.

USA has CPS too... just that it's working better then European version. And one of reasons for this is, at least from what I heard (unfortunately I can't join even European one, since it's not operating in Slovenia yet...if it will ever be profitable for country with 2mio people anyway, so I don't have first hand experiences with any one of them), is that it accepts only professionals (with proof that they are pro photographers) and not everyone with 2 pro bodies and 3 lenses. And this is actually right thing... CPS is not for people with money to afford x cameras and/or lenses, but for people who they really need it... professionals, and for this it doesn't matter if you have 1 or 10 bodies.

Exactly.

Canadian CPS has dropped their gear requirements from what I understand. When i joined a little over a year ago, they only required a list of published work, tearsheets, work samples and credentials if applicable. You then registered youe gear by SN for repairs/theft and such.

They never asked for tear sheets here... but did request credentials and sample work via websites. That was a few years back though...

you know david, even if that is your phone number, I'd recomend getting a website rather than publicising your phone number on a public forum (and if it is your phone number, how much did it cost?)

Leo,

I have published my phone number on the web for 11 years now. To date I have not had any problems at all. When I lived in NJ I posted an 800 number for 6 years and never had any problems with that also.

My sister works for Vodafone here in the UK, she got me the number, took about a week of looking to get it but did not cost a thing.
