and then a flying display- interesting technique of holding it's front two pairs of legs together but apparently using the rear legs as stabilisers.

The flight shots were a bit difficult as it was hovering over the top of a forsythia bush so I was shooting against the sky- might try at higher ISO and more of a fill flash next time (if it appears again) to try to get get some wing blur.
First time I've seen one doing a high level territorial/mate searching hover rather like hoverflies do. Normally they fly very low to the ground.
