#3 is here!

GKPE-FC Rules:

1) Each person may submit 3 photos each fortnight, and they must be themed in line with the current challenge.

2) The photos must be taken by the person submitting them during the fortnight of the corresponding challenge.

3) Please be honest in your comments on photos, the idea is to learn from other people's criticisms and praise. If you will take people telling you your photo's are bad personally....maybe you should not post them.

4) Sorry the challenge is for GKPE members only (ie New Zealand residents).

This Fortnights Challenge:

The theme for the second GKPE Fortnightly Photo Challenge is "50mm Black and White landscape" Thanks to Tony for that one.

That leaves it wide open.....landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes are all acceptable.

If you don't have a 50mm lens feel free to substitute your closest alternative. And it's up to you if you want to appy the crop factor or not, but I suggest you challange your self, by deciding what actual focal length you are going to use before you go out to shoot any photos and then stick to it for the duration of this challange.

Images must be posted by midnight (NZ time) on Sunday 7th of May 2006.

Remember this is a challenge, not a competition, so hopefully we will all learn something from our efforts and comments.

Please don't use this thread for general discussion. Post only your photo submissions for the challenge here. All comments on photos and general challange chat should go over here:

I haven't started a new discussion thread, we can keep using the old one.

Lets see what you can do!

After driving up & down the north island several times in the last few years in some really average weather it was great to stop on the desert road on Friday & take some sunny stuff. (I feel another pano coming on, maybe another thread...)

Here we go, my first poke at one of these. Taken at a friend farm on sat evening, and converted with PS and a new plugin called Virtual Photographer.

(its at 11mm, which was a wild guess at being about close enough)

Here I am!
This one was shot at Muriway Beach, two days ago, with the 24-105L, f/8, 20 sec, ISO 800 and a (cheap) IR filter. Taking the crop factor into account, this should be almost exactly 50mm.

Far better than the 1st -- more detail of the bush...

Here's something that I took on Saturday whilst in Maraetai... before the rules came out... although not at 50mm I just thought that I would share this one as part of the theme...

Here is my first shot at the Fortnightly challenge, taken on the Port Hills above Christchurch, as you can see the weather was not good shooting!
