I've notice a lot of people uses PBase for posting there pics. The last time I gave up any $$$ to a site they went broke in a matter of 6 months.

How long has Pbase been in service and how reliable is PBase?

Can you have a Privite gallery for family & friends only?

Please all replies welcomed. Trying to see is this easier than setting up my own website.
Thanks

I think if you have Cable or DSL connection and some good hard disk space and windows XP or windows 200 server you can host it on your PC>

I joined just yesterday to post some pics for the gear I am selling on Ebay. As far as I can see, you can keep your galleries private or public. I'm using the 30 day free trial, but I quite like the easiness of setting them up so I'm thinking of paying the $23 per year. ($2 per month!).

I use it and find it very good. I have looked at many others, but in my opinion only (because we'll almost surely get someone pushing another site) pbase is streets ahead of the rest. It's recently had a upgrade, now even better. It used to be free, and as somone said, you can try it free for a month. I think it's only about $23 anyway, couple of cents a week!
It's been going for a long time as far as I know, but whether it's likely to fold tomorrow, who can say. I think it has more chance than most of continuing, but if the worst comes to the worst, you've only lost a few dollars.
(and maybe your photos! :-( )

If you go to this link

http://www.pbase.com/help/the_pbasers

It tells you about who they are and how long they have been doing this. Looks like they started in 1999 so they have been around for awhile.

Companies (large and small) come and go and that is the chance that we take when we buy space. There is a multitude of webistes that offer comparable services but I am very leery of the ones that give you a large amount of storage for nothing or next to it.

I have been on pbase for a few months now (since I got my 10D) and am very happy with it.

I have looked at their home page and I can't seem to find a way to privatize certain galleries. If someone else has this know-how please share.

If you go into your gallery, click on "edit this gallery", then untick the Public Gallery option "can be viewed by anyone", nine lines down I think.

If you want private album, there is another online gallery site http://www.fotop.net which provide protected album using password. Also the price is affordable, only US$4 for 50M:
