Hi,
Yesterday i started to hear a strange noise from the camera. After a feew tests i realized that the noise appears while the camera is focusing, because i changed to manual focus and when i switch the level of focus up and down the noise appears. Does anyone have this problem? What can i do?

Sounds like you're hearing the stepper motor that moves the lens to adjust the focus.

Yeah but the noise wasn't there before. Unless it always made it and i only started to hear it recently. I think i'll leave as it is.

It's been there all along, but you just never noticed it before. Either you are now listening for it, or it has gotten louder.
It should be kind of soft clicking noise audible in a semi-quiet room when you're taking shots.

Yeah. The camera is working fine and i'm very glad with it. I'll ignore it. If a problem appears I still have 53 weeks to complain :)

Hi
I have one A70.
The last week I got also this strange noise!!
But then I got error E18...and now the focus does not want to go back to his place! The camera goes on and off, but the autofocusing is not working...only if I help the focus by hand!!
There is a big problem with the error E18 all over the world! I have to send the A70 to the Canon service .

I also have that noise when my A70 is focusing. I swear I didn't hear anything when I first got it, but a few weeks later, it suddenly started. I've kept using it for a couple months now and it seems to work fine. So, hopefully if there is something wrong, it'll break while it's still under warranty. I'm not going to worry about it for the time being though.

I think that its just a manual focus thing because in manual focus the change appears to be done in steps and for instants to get from 1 meter to infinity the camera switches through all the focus modes in the way which causes that sort of clacking sound.
It looks like it works diferently in AF mode because there is hardly any clacking...
I never worried about it but do let me know if i should! :)

Yeah, I was wondering about this. It's like a soft clicking sound everytime I take a picture (release shutter). My old A40 didn't do this.
