Wet, soggy, more time spent putting the track back together again then racing... ahhhh... it must be spring in Virginia. Here are a handfull of images from yesturdays racing. Due to lack of action.... some pretty ordinary shots. Ah well. Cheers.
In the wet, the fwd cars has a decided advantage through the corners as the Acura swings wide around a Porsche.

Nice! Cars always look good in the wet. Upleasant conditions to take photos in but the results are always worth it. #1 does it for me.

Actually I met the driver and he was none to pleased by it. He said that the only questions he ever gets is "does he get free magazines". He went on from there... but you get the idea. He wanted to talk about racing.
Thanks for the commets all. I normally move around the track more but decided to not fight the mud that day so I just hunkered down in one spot and shot from there. Cheers.
Here are three more from Saturday.

Nice pics.
Is it grass cutting season , the Nissan seems to have its rad full.
I thought it didn't rain in Virginia . I bought a 59 Cadillac in the UK that originated from Virginia and it was absolutely rust free.

Bad conditions, but great images. This may be an obvious question, but what lens did you use on these, or did you use more than one?

Mr. Pickles...All shot with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8. I try my other lenses, but being able to zoom back as the cars came through the 14-15 complex is just way to cool - so I stick with it. I have seen reports this lens doesn't zoom and focus, but I really don't have a problem with it and is why I love this lens for action.
Thanks Keith... I had a good time being there - rain and all. Cheers.

Im so partial to that 06 Mustang, probably because I just bought a GT last week hehe.
Great shots, and truth be told, those Mini Cooper's can move.

Mark,
#1 and #4 shots are excellent for showing the conditions and the pack racing against each other. Both are nicely framed and exposed. The 3/4 angle on the Tafel Racing 911 is also nice - good clean background, and I like the curve of the rumble strip arcing away behind the car.
Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks Simon... because of all the cautions, there was plenty of chances to shoot the restarts. Just had to put up with enless cautions. But I appreciate your comments... I don't do motorsport much but am trying to learn. I am trying to do more and there great examples here throughout to learn from. Being on the wrong side of the fence though makes it hard to get those dang low and beautiful angles you guys get.
Reminisce - congrats on the car... the new Mustang is absolutely a popular platform. They just seemed to be having a bit of a time keeping their wheels firmly attached to the pavement. But the porsches had the same issues too. The Z didn't look impressive, but in the end it was the car that kept all 4 on the track.
As to the mini... I have 2 of them - a 60's Austin varient... and a newer rag top. Tons of fun to drive. Balances off my Suburban... between them I average out to a normal sized car.
Thanks everyone else who commented... much appreciated.
