View Full Version : Private exhibitions but public photos

I tried a search ... I really did! :)
Can one have a private exhibition but have the photos within it be public?
As an example - I have many groups of one, two or three misc photos and it simply isn't worth creating an exhibition for each group. I would like to put them in a large catchall exhibition and make that private (since it would be so messy) but still allow each of the photos to be found and viewed by a search on filename or being selected by category.
Thoughts?

I do not think that is possible. Once an image is private it is private and can not be found public.

I want public photos - in a hidden exhibition.
Photos that will be found in a search of all exhibitions.
Actually the way things appear now, when you edit the photos in a hidden exhibition, the photos show as being "displayed in public" but they are not found in searches.

If you have a photo in an exhibition that is hidden, then the photos in that exhibition are hidden too. See it as a room with a locked door. If you can not get in you can not see what is in the room.
There are the folowing possibilities:
public exhibition - public photo => photo is visible for all
public exhibition - hidden photo => photo is NOT visible
hidden exhibition - public photo => photo is NOT visible unless you have a password to enter the exhibition
hidden exhibition - hidden photo => photo is NOT visible

Maybe this should be more of a bug report.
Yes, I recognize that is how things appear to be. But I think that things are not working correctly. A public photo (even if within a hidden exhibition) should be found when doing a search. (isn't that the definition of public?) A hidden photo should never be found regardless of it being in a hidden or public exhibition.

The term "public" is not correct in photo editor, it should be visible.
Displayed in public
Hidden from public
should be (and will be)
Visible
Hidden

In EE permissions are exhibition-level (mostly). It means if a photo is in private exhibition X, and only there, it will not show on other exhibitions or "all combined". If it is also in other, non-private exhibitins it will show on search.

I guess that answers that!
Thanks Pekka
