View Full Version : Another 10D bites the dust

I sure wish I would have found this board sooner. I have had my 10D for nearly 2 months. My wife and I primarily use a Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens.

I thought for sure that this would be the Digital to beat all digitals. My Powershot G3 has worked flawlessly.

I even sold my Nikon F4-S thinking that I may never use another roll of film.

Right in the middle of my son's football game, the images began washing out and the auto focus slowed drastically. By the end of the game my wife was getting Error 99's and no images were being written to the flash card.

Wolf Camera has offered to exchange the camera for a new one as soon as their orders are backfilled. This exercise is supposed to take 2 weeks. The other option is Canon repair which was estimated to take 6 weeks.

I guess I'll wait for the new body. Should I expect this to occur on the new body as well? I have shot approximately 700 images with the camera so far.

I have heard of only a very few of these camera's actually "biting the dust"

I am over 11,000 images taken on mine in only about 4 months time. I hate to think that lightning will strike twice for you...

looks like a wet day to be shooting. Could water or condensation (from an air conditioned car to the humid outdoors) play a factor in your camera dying that slow death? Don't worry, I won't tell Wolf :)

Wet day or not, you purchased a professional level piece of equipment. If you shoot like me, I believe you're very protective of your equipment and the only moisture it may see comes from high humidity. It's ridiculous to expect users to place their cameras in zip-loks (unless they're shooting in the northwest or the jungle), but I guess that's what we're going to have to do but it's not right. Have you notified Canon and expressed your extreme displeasure with their high-priced product?

On the Wolf replacement, backorder hell! You stepped up to the plate and paid a significant amount of $$$ for that body. If I was you, I'd be on their butts daily for my camera. The backorder people have waited this long, another week isn't going to kill them.

I think this speaks volumes about Wolf Camera and their concern for customer satisfaction. If you really want a good laugh, go into a Wolf/Ritz/Kit's store and price Canon lenses and accessories. (over $400 bucks for a 2X Extender).

They will 'price match' if you bring in an advertisement from a non-internet competitor for the identical product. If I'm going to be forced to go to that much trouble, I'll just buy it from the competitor. Besides, who would advertise a 2X Extender for $279 (plus or minus) when that's the price pretty much everywhere except Wolf?
