Threave Castle lies on an island in the middle of the River Dee, and was built by Archibald "Archibald the grim" Douglas at the end of the 14th century.

Very nice, John. The castle surely looks its age.

More great shots John :)
I was up near Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe fishing last night, the weather was crap though so didn't get any shots.
Were these taken today ?
The weather looked great today, I was getting a kip though after being up all night fishing :(

Thanks again guys. I took all of the castle (and abbey) shots today, and it sounds like going south was the right decision weatherwise. :)

Thanks James, like all of the places I visited, you can get as close as you want, so my shooting distance was limited by the 17mm lens (plus crop factor influences).

More shots that were taken from the same spots as I took mine! :D
Was the boat man English? I think it is a guy from Bolton or Rochdale.

There were two men at work on sunday, and each one took at turn with us on the boat. Both of them had English accents as far as I can remember.
