Using Close up Lense and Special effect lenses

Have a new Canon Didital Rebel XT and tried using a Canon close up lense and a Special Effect Lense(one that is cut to give 5 imagesof the one you are looking at.)
Nothing seems to work. However, when I use the Circular Polarizing Filter, I can see the difference it makes thru the eyepiece while rotating the Polarizing Filter.
Why can I not see the other two lenses do their thing thru the eyepiece?

You're probably not seeing this because the 5x special effect lens is designed to work on a full-frame camera and your DRXT has a sensor that's much smaller trhan that. Look closely at the edges of your photo and see what you get there. BTW - was this a linear, or circular arrangement you were expecting? A circular would be much less likely to show up right.
