I just returned to Texas from a trip to Kansas. The birding was slow due to extensive drought. The Cheyenne Bottoms, a legendary marshy birding site was almost completely dry. I did get these two pictures at Quivira NWR, a Lark Sparrow and an American Avocet.

Nice shots Mike. I've never seen wither bird before myself. They're both nice and sharp.

Not a bad trip at all. These are two very beautiful birds and you have captured them well Mike.

I like both shots but the sparrow would be nicer with a different colored background.

Great shots!
I particularly like the sparrow, and unlike scnapper above, I like seeing them in their natural backgrounds where they generally 'blend in' and are more difficult to see and photograph.
