Since I installed the software with my A70, I can't get my CD burner to work. I have Win XP and I use Nero 5.5. I've tried different versions of Nero (5.5.10.5, 5.5.10.7 and an earlier one I can't remmeber), the default Win XP burning sofware and I even bought a new burner. Nothing works. I get the message in Nero "Failed to write end track" or something like that. Anyone else have issues with their Canon software and Cd burners? The camera software and XP updates are the only things that have changed from the time my burner was working and it stopped working.

I don't have any problem with Nero or any other CD burner programs in my Windows XP (I didn't update btw)
My take is to un-install the canon software and try your CD burner. If the CD burner is still not working, do a clean install of Windows XP and try the burner again, this will tell you what the roof problem is...
If in fact the problem is the Canon softwares, get rid off it, use something else, they are no good anyway.

I have the same camera/config here too and no troubles with my burner. I'd go with clayge's suggestion; could be windows corrupted itself.

I had a weird software glitch happen to me after I installed Windows XP. My DVD burning software stopped working. I went back to Windows 2000 Pro and the same thing was happening. I backed out ALL the software I had installed since the last time I knew the software was working and I was still experiencing the weird software glitch. You know what it turned out to be. I had bought and installed the Lexar USB CF card reader. The glitch only occurred when the card reader was plugged in (which was most of the time). When I unplugged it, the DVD burning software worked fine.
You might want to check to see if there were any new hardware that you had installed, too, since the last time your burner was working fine. If so, try removing it and see if it fixes your problem. I'm bringing this up because I wasted 3 days and long nights installing and resintalling my Windows OS + software only to discovery at the end that a freaking card reader was the cause of all my grief! :(

Wow. You know I did get a new CF reader with my camera ..... I'll have to try it. So, do you have to unplug it every time you want to burn a DVD? This would be quite an inconvenience.

Actually, I only plug in the Lexar CF Card reader when I need to copy new files over to the harddrive. It might seem like an inconvenience but it really isn't for me. Since I KNOW that there's something screwy with the Lexar driver(?) (otherwise it wouldn't be messing up my DVD burning program) I prefer to have it offline unless I really need it. If it's plugged in, no telling what other unknown damage it could be doing under the covers when I run some other programs.
BTW, my reader is the Lexar Multi-Card reader, in case you wanted to compare notes.

That was it! I unplugged my Lexar CF reader and the burner works just fine. I have been unable to locate anything in the Windows KB or the Lexar web site on this. I'll try and contact Lexar on it and see where that leads me. It's really a pain to have to crawl under my desk, plug in the CF reader, download my images, crawl back under my desk, unplug the CF reader and then burn a CD of the images.
Thanks for the help.
