First visit to Mallory Park for some classic tin-top racing and more than a smattering of MX5s in the MaX 5 Challenge which was the reason for going. Early start and a late return made a long day but the action was well worth it.

Great views from lots of places - the circuit is in a bowl and a few undulations made the photo opportunities varied and interesting.

Teesside was well represented in the Max5 Challenge with Alyn Roson (#7) and Martin Stevinson (#55) having a tussle for 7th place. Robson won this the battle

David Hickton raced in the Classic Gp 1 Touring cars coming second in a good race. Not sure about the car setup though - looks more like one of those rally cars lifting the front wheel

Winner of that race was David Howard in his really well prepared Jaguar XJ12. The lights came on when he caught some backmarkers.

The Classic Thunder Touring Cars was won by Gerard Faber in a vey imposing Chevloet Camaro. This is him exiting the Devil's Elbow.

Second place was taken by Kevin Williams in his Gulf liveried Sierra Cosworth

Neil Philpotts gave the decent crowd great entertainment in his Mitsubishi Starion in the Modified Saloon car Championship with backfire and flames on the overrun. This is him coming down the hill from Shaw's Hairpin.

Classic tin-tops aren't complete without some Escorts. Here's the MkI of Stephen Primett taking a chunk of Kerb at the Esses

Steve Cripps opposite the Bus Stop in his Escort RS2000.

But for Middlesbrough losing the F.A,cup semi final and the monster traffic jam on the M1 North on the return journey it was a very enjoyable day at the "Friendly Circuit"

Comments always welcome.

Up the Hammers ;) sorry mate couldn't resist.

These are spot on, 2nd and 3rd ones are particularly tickling me tonight. Cheers

Last one is a great shot too.

Never been to Mallory, might have to look into it.

Up the Hammers

I really wish them well in Cardiff. From what I heard on the Radio Boro had the best of the first half but the Hammers came back in the second. It could have gone either way. I'll be cheering for West Ham in the final. though - they'll be the underdogs. We'll just have to go and win the EUFA Cup now!!

Thanks for the comments on the photos.

Nice Dollies Dave. The sort of 'unsung hero' of 70s Touring Cars I guess, the credit went all Ford's way. They were BANANAS as road cars.

And yes, all Boro in the 1st half, all West Ham in the 2nd. Shame about Schwarzer, bad luck.

Am currnetly trying to get FA Cup final tickets!
