Hi Cyrillo,
Welcome to the forum. Your lens should be fine. But the best way to find out is to take some shots and post them to the forum. Include your EXIF with the image and the forum members will be very helpful (and kind) in helping you improve your skills. Bird photography is very addictive and you couldn't have come to a better place to share your hobby. I'm looking forward to your first post.

Hi Cyrillo,

Welcome to the forum!:D

Ditto what Ron said. The 70-300 IS is a good starter. Go out and shoot to find out what needs to improve or what contributes to your success, and share them here. THis is a great forum to learn from each other.;)

Here are a couple of threads with bird shots taken with that very lens.

It won't get everything you want, but it's a great place to start. It's great for hiking/walking through the woods when the birds aren't too far away. You don't have to worry about a tripod with this one.

Good luck and loooking forward to seeing your pictures!
