What is a Picture?

The right composition?
A beautiful subject?
Colors and shapes?

I think that the answer is simply "an emotion" that a Picture gives to the person that looks at it. Something beyond any technical tip, any common rule, any big photography manual...

I look at my pictures (the last ones I took with my G1, the hundreds I took with my previous digicams...) but rarely they give me back - and not very strong indeed - the feeling I tried to capture.

Pekka gallery, instead, is amazing. The impact of the thumbnail page is almost too much to me...

Is it possible to learn how to capture emotions?

I think it's impossible to have EVERY picture you (me, others) shoot as state-of-art. There is also casual life around. And it's not perfect. Is it possible to make perfect picture of imperfecness ? I believe yes. But this statement is arguable. Outstanding, but not state-of-art.
There are many events which are interesting to you only and you want to memorize it to cause your emotions then.
If your intention is to make your photo outstanding, you'll do it, sooner or later, but you have to think before you click the button.

I've been working with G1 since December. And my position was to keep every picture I had made. I believed, that every moment shoot with my camera was unique, and that's why perfect in its uniqueness. It was a permanent contest with my wife :). But I've changed my mind since I'd started learning photography, composition, others work and so on. Now I keep may be 1-2 of 20 or even less of my shots, but try to shoot more.

So, It was my thoughts about how to convey emotions.
