Now that the other kiwis have posted their take, I'm going to get in before Wazza steals all the glory :p

Here is a few of my attempts spanning the 3 days of racing.

They are all different sizes, cause I'm a girl, and I was never taught that consistancy is a good thing :p

your colors have great saturation ....very well done with the 1st 2. the 3rd seems a bit shakey, but these are great shots none the less!

Thanks Justin. Man you're quick, I was still fixing the first post when you replied. 3rd picture is a little shakey, I agree, but only because I wasn't tracking the car well enough.. I'm generally pretty wonky at the best of times
The 2nd lot are sharper than the 1st (if you exclude the very first picture)

They're all very good Kirst, you really have to stop pleading incompetance - we all know better ;-)
#6 is my favourite -was that on Friday?

iKirst

Hehe - I saw some of the rest of my shots, that's why I plead incompetence. And I may have help at making them look just so at final PP... ;)

Thanks Duncan :)

It's always #6 eh, I seem to always pick #6 shots too.

That one was taken from the HPM corporate box on Friday, where I downed two Red Bulls in quick succession. mmmm corporate boxes...

You have got some nice shots there, and who said you need to spend 1000's on a lens to get some good shots. I must admit I like #1 and #6

I will be posting some more when I think about it some more :)

Those girly shots are the best Ive seen of the whole event. Love the flames out of the side.

Well done iKirst

We all get bad shots (especially me) no matter how good we are. Even the best photographer may only get 1 great shot out of 100 average/horrible ones. Those shots are pretty good, give yourself a pat on the back.

Kirst -- great job!!! Being humble has its place... but pleading incompetence when not doesn't... ;-) I love the flames shooting out of the last 2...

With your permission, I'm directing a good mate to pic#4 -- he works for Chevron Texaco and got to ride this car from his hotel (the Langham) to the office in Greenlane!

Cheers guys - great way to make a girl smile when she hasn't been able to really surface from work for hours and hours and hours :p

Mark - I still need a lens worth thousands to get those perfect shots ;)
Another vote for #6 - excellent. We can thank a friend of mine, Nakita, and her bosses, for allowing me camera time from their box to get that shot

Tony - Quite simply - whoah, thank you Go the girlies ;)

Marshall - Back patted, as per your direction. Cheers! :D

John - go for it! Permission granted and all that stuff. How cool that you want to share my shots on. That's a huge compliment in itself. Yay you, and yay me ;)

How does one get a ride in any of those cars...

, the cars not even road legal, but I'm sure it's a nicely modified BA Falcon with the same signwriting. :)

As I said on your site, I love the shots!
Oh wait, maybe that had something to do with me quickly selecting these. Sorry to hold all your files at ransom. :)

Thanks for the selection, Warren. I'm almost positive they are all that's worth sharing :)

Justin, that's ok. It was my fault for stuffing about on the first post for so long ;)

Hi All

Great shots ikirst :) I love all of them!

To get a ride you either have to be very lucky and win one, or you can cough up the $$$ to have a hotlap with some teams. I had laps in the TKR supercar at Manfeild last year, and it is soooooo worth it :D :D I think the cost is around $550ish inc GST. If you get a chance GO FOR IT :) (TKR are definitely doing it again this year - the info is on www.tkr.co.nz).

Cool shots :D

I think flames rate higher than motion blur.
Getting both is :D:D

The biggest cars I've shot are when it's a fat bugger in a Kart.

You don't get many cornering shots at the drags

I would rather pay $550 for a helicopter ride
200 km per hr down the southern in my old RX7 was enough esp when the front wheels got real light.

Those flame shots should be printed and frammed

Hi All

Each to their own I guess, helicopters are cool, but the acceleration and braking in a supercar is an awesome feeling (ok, and the cornering too) - and when they hang it out sideways it is great fun :D

I think someone likes their supercars. :) They're great, aren't they?
:D

Pretty quick too to put shots in your gallery.

I'm only half way editing some pics from Saturday. It will be after the weekend before I share my shots. I'll let the hype die down, and when there's not 4 V8 posts on the front page. :D

Mmmm hotlaps. It would be so cool, but I'd be trying to grab the steering wheel and drive the car myself.

Cheers Fran! The double :D is most appreciated.

I hear ya on drag shots.. I have taken hundreds and hundreds.. only to delete hundreds and hundreds cause you can only be pleased with a car going in a straight line so many times before it gets old.. ;)

I think I should have words with you about this 200 clicks down the m/way in a rota though..

Adrenalin junkie eh.

He/she does, huh ;)
Tracy - forgive my ignorance, but do I presume you female.. or are you one of the rare Tracy named males?

TKRFAN
26th of April 2006 (Wed), 19:32
Hi All

You are right iKirst I am female :) I think there is only a few shots with me in them on my site as I prefer to be behind the camera!

I am only an andrenaline junkie in race cars though trust me - wouldn't catch me bungee jumping or throwing myself out of a perfectly good plane ;) I am like you iKirst, would love to drive one, but they just don't let you for some strange reason ;)

After all as Greg Murphy said - "I would rather crash my supercar at 200kph than a road car at 60kph".

Framed? my work? Thanks Tony!

Had to be done, mind you it needed a tune so it was a bit slow, should have been 220. This was long before I had childrean. Slowed down since then. 100km is the speed limit and my cargo is worth more than money can buy.

iKirst
26th of April 2006 (Wed), 19:57
Well, Hello Miss Tracy :) I bungee jumped! But only because I was tricked into it with oodles of compliments, like being told I was bodacious (bwahaha - go Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure) thrown my way. Stupid me  Plane diving, I can't say I want to do. It frightens me too much. I guess it's safer than a speeding car, but I grew up in them. Infact I wanted to be race car driver when I was but a toddler and had just learnt to speak.

Murphy's quote is not a stupid one.. 5point harness, bucket seats that fully enclose you, full roll cages, proper side intrusion bars and decent crumple zones... so much safer than a road car eh ;)
I wouldn't say no to a V8 Supercar...

Tony - The law made me slow down ;) Took them ten years to catch me, but catch me they did. I am the example to adhere to
The rota, though, is what I shake my head to :p

Great shots Kirst, solly for the slow reply. Those flames kick ass, I was trying for shots like that all day and always came up with something in the way :(

200 down the motorway is nothing :) except for me, must remove that 180kmh limiter (actually 196kmh).

and tony in the battlebetween ford and holden I still say go Nissan

Ah, thank you Simon :D
I had 3 days to attempt to get flame shots, you had one, I think that gave me an unfair advantage ;)

200km down the m/way is nothing, I agree.. but I got over being that silly many moons ago...
