A while ago, I saw a program on the National Geographic on lightning storms and they intervewed a tog who was taking pictures during such a storm. A bolt struck his camera, which melted completely... He almost got killed.
I didn't want to scare you! :D

I doubt it. While you captured some pretty cool bolts, the shots are underexposed which brings out the noise. What were your settings? My first attempt at lightning was a disaster. It takes practice, practice, and of course a little luck. Looking forward to seeing more.

Guess I need a high dollar camera...
Not so fast... Your camera can create some great images just try a faster ISO and open up the aperture to around f/4. The exposure time of 13-15secs is what I usually use also. With lightning it is very hard to capture a great image since the intensity of the bolt is unknown and hard to expose properly for. A good rule of thumb is to open the aperture with distant lightning and stop down when it is close. Stop all together when it is too close. ;)
