Not exactly the shot I was after on this cold, misty morning (hence the 150 mm macro ).
More or less a snap shot but I couldn't resist it. :o

BTW Dimitri, Strax et al......I lay claim to this tree. ;)

Cameron, how can you call that a snapshot?!!! Its a well composed and very atmospheric shot. I love it, well done. :D :D

Cameron, this does not look like a cold morning at all - I can easily think to got to swim in this loch (only because of the feeling in this picture ;) ). Nice!

Perhaps not exactly a snap, Trevor, but I deliberately only took the macro lens to concentrate on something other than landscape.....as you can see I failed.

Olli, aren't you guys used to diving into a cold lake after a sauna ? :)
Thanks for the nice comment.

Very atmospheric with lovely early morning gold colours and I think that if you look closely at the bark of that tree, you'll see my copyright on it! ;)

Just goes to show how versatile that lens is :)

As for this tree fetish you all have, I think you're all 'barking' mad

Olli, aren't you guys used to diving into a cold lake after a sauna ? :)Was thinking Scotland ... I guess there are not that many saunas next to lochs. ;) But I have been swimming in a hole of a frozen lake - and that *is* refreshing.

very nice cameron, it was a lovely sunrise the other morning and you have captured it well. I am sharpening my saw as we speak as I have a new tree to claim;)

I wish my snapshots turned out like that! Looks very autumnal Cameron.

I've paid a guy to keep a 24 hour watch on this tree.
He's mad, armed and dangerous......goes by the name of Cholla ! ;)

Looks very autumnal Cameron
"Snapped" the shot on Monday at 6am, Damian.
This image doesn't do it justice.
I've never seen the loch look so good.
A wider lens, ND grads and a tripod would have made all the difference.
Some you win......

Very Nice Cameron :)

There's nowt wrong with that shot by the way.

I'm curious as to what type of Macro shots you were after at that time of the morning.

Thanks Scottie.

Any shots really.
I bought this lens towards the end of last year and haven't really put it to good use as a macro lens.
I thought I would leave all other lenses at home and take only this lens in order to concentrate on macro.
I couldn't find a single macro image worthy of shooting.
I'm sure that's a failure on my part. Maybe I just can't see a good macro. :?

Thanks for the explanation Cameron, I was overnight fishing at Loch Awe on Saturday night, I too was on the hunt for a few macro shots, all I found really were springtime plants whose buds were covered in early morning moisture. I can't wait till my garden starts blooming that way I don't have to go far to practice Macro :)

Great shot, it's definately a keeper. I love the soft background and and sharper foreground it really works in this image. i wonder if i could get a similar effect with my 60mm Macro :D

It's a wonderful scene, Cameron, so don't make excuses for it.

Beautiful colors and a great mood to the photo.

Beautiful mood - definitely not a "snapshot", more a successful shot snapped to capture a moment in time.

There's only a "landscape addict" that can take a macro lens out and come back with a landscape - you need help!

I can't say anything which hasn't already been said other than "there's creativity for you!" ;)
