triggering camera thru usb

(sorry this question is not specific to a Canon model)

I tried to search the forum but couldn't find anything.

Is there a way of triggering Canons thru USB? What I want is that I will have a small software, I will click 'shoot' button and the camera will shoot.

Any information or links are appreciated.

RemoteCapture is included with every Canon camera, I guess. However, PSRemote has probably more options. I think it's in beta stage currently. There are also some camera-specific apps available at Breeze Systems.
