Some of you might remember my 10d troubles. In a nutshell, AF started intermittently quitting. Not a soft, front or back focus problem, not focusing at all. Sent it in, got it back with the same problem. Sent it back. One and a half weeks later, I got it back...literally hours before I was scheduled to leave for my first assignment of the season. The link below shows the results (I was pleased!)
Football (american style) pics (http://www.sportsshooter.com/port_popup.html?mem_id=1635&i_id=64941)
Turned out the main board was faulty, and causing the AF problems.

all in that gallery were a Sigma 300mm 2.8 prime. A couple had a 1.4 TC on as well.
Also got some decent stuff with the 70-200 2.8 L, but mostly left it on my DCS-520 (which can't hold the 10d's jock, by the way...little sports reference there)

Nice pics!
Although I must confess, I was happier with Nebraska's results against OSU than I was with my Pokes (WY Cowboys). I notice you have pics from both games.
How does one go about getting a pass to be a photographer on the field?

At some smaller schools, a silver tongue pointed to the right ears can get you access. For upper D1, you about have to be shooting for a publication. The other option is to contact the school's SID and ask if they need a shooter for the Sports Information Department.

Thank you very much Heather.
Actually, I'm not a pro by any means. I do shoot Oklahoma State football for an area magazine, but it's an unpaid gig right now. So until someone offers me some greenbacks for my work, I'm an amature. :)

Pictures look great. Colors look great. Did you make any adjustments to White Balance or Color Temp?
I ask because my 10D photos just look a little less 'vibrant' than my film shots with Portra NC and VC. Thanks.

So far the 10d/Sigma combo has worked fine, including when a sigma 1.4x TC is added in (though it does soften things up a bit.
Of course I want a L 300 2.8, but I got the Sigma used for about $1300...vs. maybe $2300 for a beat-up L lens.
