I know, I know, there are many posts dealing with this issue? And I have read many of them, with invaluable advice. But, let me tell you what I need, what I am looking for and let us see your personal recommendations.
I am looking for a Manfrotto, with independent leg spread, and the central column that can turn into a lateral arm, so that I can take macro shots. I want a QR plate, but I am not sure if getting a pan head or a ball head. The heaviest gear that I will use will be a 20D with a TC 1.4x and a 70-200 f/4, with maybe a 550EX on top (total of 4.5 lbs). I would like to take it with me, in my backpack, so a maximum folded length of 20 inches would be great. I want a single tripod/head combination of $200 (don't mind getting it used) for all my work. Mostly I take pictures of people, macros and landscapes.
