Playing around with the 1D and 85L:

First taken with a 1D and 85L. ISO 200, f/2.8, 1/100th in manual mode.
Second taken with 1D and 85L. ISO 100, F/1.2, 1/160th in A/V

Man that 1.2 is almost dangerous, Not much room for error with that DOF.

Yeah, I focused a bit low on her face, should have focused on the eyes a bit better. Still usable though :)

What do you think of the B/W version of #2

With the 85L you must ALWAYS focus on the close eye. Harsh criticism: don't have her smile quite so big ... all those teeth and gums suck the eye to her mouth. Suggestion: don't have her so straight on; have her sit with her body facing 90 degrees away and turn her heard toward you; then shot and have her rotate her body a bit, shoot, rotate, shoot, rotate ... you will find an angle within the 180 degrees where her body faces left to right that suits you and her best. Also, I'd get a little closer to tighten up the crop ... she has a beautiful face and everything else is a distraction. And, of course, watch those backgrounds.

Not sure if the 85L is a recent purchase so I will congratulate you anyway. I am definately not a pro but I will say for sure that the 85L can be tricky to use, stoppe down you still get great results with this lens. The first one is very nice. :)
This is a shot of my mother with the 85L, straight out of the camera....No PP
Apeture 8.0
Shutterspeed 1/60

I don't mind the cririsism, its how we get better. Thank you for your suggestions, I will practice some more and put them to good use :)
