Does this fall into the Nice but so what category?
I have been working on portraits and am trying to progress to portraits that "catch the eye" of others besides the subjects themselves.
This catches my eye, does it catch yours?
Other critiques are very much welcome. Don't worry about hurting my feelings...I am strong like ox. ;)

Great dof and colour. Very nice portrait. Did you think to offer this woman a copy. Then get another photo when she see's it? Just an idea. :)

It catches my eye. I like it, especially since it's not a standard portrait. It seems that she looked over her shoulder and is just about to catch you taking her picture.

I think this is a great portrait. I found the object in the bottom left of the shot a bit distracting though.

Her face is very interesting.
Its well exposed and the colour is good.
The off centre composition I am not sure about - I think it may be a bit too near the edge - but it is different and adds to the picture so Im kinda 50:50 about it.
I don't like the background at all though - the other face is still sharp enough to compete for attention and the light colour also draws the eye away.

I think it's a spectacular shot. I very much like the off-center composition and the color saturation is pretty good.
Her straw hat does much to complement her expression and the shot in general. The detail of the weaving in the hat creates a very nice accent.
Cheers!

I think that the off center is just fine, in fact, I like empty space as part of the composition. The "catch" is perfect too - a moment sooner and she would not be looking at the viewer, a moment later and she would be saying "What you doing? You go away! Stop bother me."
I am just not sure of the aesthetics of her face. There is something uninviting about it. Did you try monochrome? Perhaps a little less saturation on the red channel? Or is there too much shadow above her right eye? Something.
Strong like ox - eh?
But are you smart, like tractor?

Yeah you can say I'm as smart as a Tractor. LOL
yes indeed the face does not look very inviting, I am not sure why this picture calls my attention. l don't even know her. I was just wondering if it was just me.
I havent even thought of playing with the color. I might try that tomorrow.
Interesting comments everyone, thank you for taking the time to reply.
