View Full Version : Help---Template or Build My Own?

OK,

I've got a fella who can build my site if I give him some examples. He will host it and has already purchased domains and got my email set up. My thoughts were in the long run if I can build and edit myself, upload new galleries, then I can make changes much faster.

So I was wondering have any of you purchased a template (they are cheap, less than $65). Would you just find one you like, use it as an example and build your own. I want to do it in Photoshop CS, I do not know HTML code and really don't want to become an expert at it.

Here is the front page of a template I like; the other pages look really nice as well. I'd change the font and the background but that should not be hard in PS.

I do not know how to build all the little boxes that you put the text in, how do you do that?

Any help would be appreciated.

Use the rectangle tool, fill it black. Double click the layer with it in. Use the drop shaddow. Cant remember the settings now. And that will goive you a black box with the blackish glow. then add text over the top. I will post in greater detail later ;)

I can get them..I'm not sure how to add the simple white borders. I do it on a picture so I guess it is the same...I just want to make sure they all look alike.

How do you create a button? I can't seem to find my PS book but I'll keep looking, maybe it has some "how-to's" on builidng some of the generic things for websites.

an easy way would be create a box using the rectangle, fill it white, then use the same tool to select the inside. Then press Del on ur keyboard and it will delete what uve selected. If u select the middle but leave some of the white outside u get the stroke. Get me?
