5 time Grammie nominated Nnenna Freelon. Outstanding show. Very Billie Holiday.

Frank, only one image? How about a little explanation of the event, your participation, where the rest of the images are hiding, and like that?

I like the composition and lighting. Nice clear shot, but w/o more photos I don't know if I like her heading leaning like that. Guess you had to be there :)

Oh... I have more. You can find them in the stage section of my site (http://www.piechdesign.net/BluffCityGalleries/nnenna_freelon_stage_gallery.htm).
I have an agreement with one of the Performing Arts Centers here in Memphis that gives me run of the house for all events. Portraits pay the bills, but stage work is one of my passions.
Good Stage work is a challange all the way around. It pushes the limits of your equipment and it pushes the limits of yourself.

She put on a very animated performance. You can check out some of the other images in the post above and see. I would recomend anyone to go see her on stage.

Nod... Yep. That was last years show. Also very very good. That was one of the few shows where I was given limited time to shoot. His manager only gave me permission to shoot during the first two songs so I burned off 300 odd shots in about 10 min. I would have liked to shoot longer and get more expressive images but some times you have to follow the rules.

Well, I'll stay away from anything that hard.
I happened upon some of your images for sale on your website, Wynton Marsalis in particular ... may I ask if you have a specific model release for these? I'm not trying to pimp you about IP rights but rather I'm curious what sort of arrangements different shooters make with the talent or their management, if any.

My agreement is with the venue. They have rights to use the images in their advertising and I retain the copyright. I don't have to deal with the performers at all.

Yes, I have the same agreement with the casino, but am unclear if I have the right to sell images of performers even though I have copyright of the images since I don't have a model release. I expect that technically I can't but that I am such small fish that no one would even notice ... I just wonder about the technicalities.

Fdpiech, you say on your equipment page on your site 'We only use Canon's finest L glass lenses so as to give our customers the finest image quality we can.' yet you have a 15mm Sigma listed under equipment. I'm puzzled!

Geez, Vic, maybe he doesn't use the 15mm for customers! You need to get out and shoot more if this draws your attention. :-)

Go criticize my Pepe Aguilar images ... there's plenty to complain about there: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=164809 and you can even be the first!

Couldn't find anything to complain about there!! :D I find that from difficult to impossible to believe for a critic with such a sharp eye for detail. Well, I have other threads mixed in here that you are welcome to review and niggle about ... if I hadn't pulled my back out trying to move a couch with my wife (who had no problem) yesterday I would be off doing something useful myself, but I am here looking for entertainment and everyone but you and me is out shooting!

ROFL. I use the 15mm very rarely for commercial shoots... although I did use it last night for a show that was in a very small venue. 90%+ of my commercial work is done with my red stripes.
