Im looking to learn from peoples experiences with regards to buying a good.....even the best (affordable)...photo printer. Id done some research on this a few months ago, but the products seem to be updated quicker than i can buy one.
Thanks for your replies in advance,
Mick

I say Canon BJC i950 or i9100 beyond a doubt.

i950 is the best for A4 IMHO
I got one, and friends don't believe I did the print!

I bought my i950 a few months ago and have been veery pleased ever since. At the time of purchase, it appeared to be the best available at the price. Since then, the price has dropped considerably, so it's an even better buy.
Besides print quality being excellent, the primary advantage to me is the separate ink cartridges instead of just one color cartridge. In time, that should make big difference in the cost of consumables. I also like the 'edge-to-edge' printing option.
Of course, there are already printers available that are probably just as good, and perhaps better. The cycle seems to repeat itself every few months. Still, with the i950, you should be happy for quite a while.
Good luck.
