Set up the camera on tripod, 135 f2L, 1/3 second, F2. C&C welcome. (I must add that "saving for web" has robbed the picture of the orange glow that the original RAW image has)http://i.pbase.com/o4/12/533712/1/59299517._I1A0148.jpg

So, you have three daughters? And they get their astoundingly good looks from Mom ... ?

My wife in the light blue shirt will be quite pleased by that sweet comment. And to think she's so old, we are in completely different decades. She's 50 and a half, and I'm only 49.

That probably happened because PS is set to view in CYMK for that image. Go to View-View Proof-RGB Monitor to adjust before saving for Web. You can adjust for printing or for web viewing but they usually need to be adjusted per application.

I think you took excellent shots here. I'll probably never get into this type of thing, I hate the idea that I might be wasting other people's time if I want to set up my camera and tripod and have people pose/wait to get a cool shot. hard to explain what i mean

Nice!
I tried this when our grandson turned 3 but there weren't enough candles to get that good of light. :(

Beautiful shot with candle light. I'll have to remember to set the tripod when my son celebrates his 9th birthday in May. He won't look as lovely as your sweet young lady. I never like how I look in front of the camera, especially on self-timer and me trying to race there. Have never done a good job with that, but your group shot was great.
If I had a cake with the 28+ ;) candles on it to illuminate me on my birthday this June, I'm afraid I'd have to use the bright sunshine mode. :)

Thats a lovely birthday shot -nicely done. The earing highlights etc and hair work the light very well.
...18? Next stop, grandkids! Hang on for a wild ride.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments. My (much older than I) wife got a good laugh at those who thought she was my daughter. She said you all need glasses. I have to agree. It must be my blond hair that's fooling you.
I think you took excellent shots here. I'll probably never get into this type of thing, I hate the idea that I might be wasting other people's time if I want to set up my camera and tripod and have people pose/wait to get a cool shot. hard to explain what i mean
Crash, I know exactly what you're saying. It's kind of a joke in my family, though, as my dearly departed dad used to like to take snapshots, but it always took him what seemed like an eternity to focus and take the shot. Meaning, they're used to waiting for me.
In this particular case, I saw a picture of an elderly gentleman (you know, like Dwight:) ) in a magazine who was lighting a cigarette and the picture was taken by just the light of the match; so, I had the idea before hand. As my wife was preparing the cake, I already had my tripod set up.
Thanks again, everyone.

BTW, she's only 17. And I have a son soon to be 20, a junior in college who lives with his girlfriend.
