edit by moderator: Nicely done, but please read the image posting guidelines. Images should be no more than 800x pixels along their longest edge not 1200 odd... thx.

These were taken at silverstone on Wednesday 26th
But I had shot over 300 but seem to have a problem with most pics , it's a focusing issue ? and I'm working on it but a bit baffled at present. I may need to ask advise from anyone with a Ds Mk 11
Sorry about the Pixels Mr Moderator but I'm not much good at that either, Will try harder

What seems to be your focusing problem? I've had a look at the EXIF settings and they don't appear to be too far off of what I'd use. I'd probably have closed the aperture down a little as f/5.6 is a little tight for race cars at 400mm other, than that...

Good shots Keith. Did you take any out on the race track or just concentrate on the pit lane?

Yeah, I agree, VERY nice. Go on then, apart from th ebody which you've mentioned, what lens were you using for these and how close were you? Stand, public area or did you manage to blag a tabard and get in close to the action (If you did BTW, I HATE YOU !!! LOL.....) Never had a great deal of success at Silverstone. I'm hoping to go to the Renault gig at Donny later in the year, I've riden there but never shot there, so I'm hoping it's gonna be better than Silverstone...

Very nice, although I'm not a fan of what is inside the helmut of the Renault driver. And they said yesterday that Kimi is in the runnin' for a yellow and blue suit now. Eventually, I think he will be wearing red though.

Hi all, Thanks for your comments.
I used 100-400 and 28-135 mainly. Although I did venture out the pits there was loads to see in and around them. I met Alonso and shook his hand as well as other drivers, webber, coultard, rosberg. I was invited by Royal Bank of Scotland and at 8.00 am all the drivers were around and not yet stressed out.Actually I was not pleased with most of the shots but at least I got within 1 Mtr of the cars. The noise is fantastic.

By the way, Alonso is so good with the fans, there was a kid and his dad there , He took time to show them the works trailer and give the kid some time.
Kimi on the other hand didn't even look in anyones direction.
Alonso get my vote anyday

Did you remember your ear plugs? Thankfully I remembered! Did you take your 500f4 or would that of been too long?

Never had the 500 f4 then, but it would be too big for the pits ,It works best at say druids (Brands) or similar.
This shot at exactly that spot

That shocks me (Alonso) but I'm glad to hear it.

Thats a lovely shot at Druids.

From my experience of the F1 drivers the more successful, or highly rated they are, then the harder they are to find and access. The only time I've seen Michaeal Schumacher in person for example is back in 2004 when I watched him on the Silverstone podium from the pit straight grandstand, and this year, again from the public areas as he was driving into the circuit.

Kimi Raikkonen hides, and very rarley shows his face to the light of the day, I've only once seen him pop his face over the sky scrapper tall screen Mclaren use in the testing pit lane, and once in normal atire at the end of a days testing, going to his hire car. And he wasn't hanging around for chatting, especially not with a hack like me. This the best I've managed to get of him.

Alonso is also very secluded, very ocassionally see him in the garage, but he's quick to dive behind things when you're doing your utmost to get a good pic, I think my best pic of him is

http://www.j-images.com/2005/F1TestSilverstone905/photos/photo32.jpg

In Jerez I got imbroiled in a Cat n Mouse game with Webber, he seemed quite intent on turning away every time I tried to get a photo of him, fair enough i suppose in a way, but bloody annoying, I had actually given, before shortly catching him out the corner of my eye and pouncing. Here is the result

http://www.j-images.com/2006/f1testjerezfebuary206/img_6094.jpg

Others like the other Williams drivers, Gary Paffet, the Red Bull drivers etc you see quite frequent, if only they bloody smiled every so often!

Honda have recently become a whole lot easier at the tents by not bothering with the screens, Button when in the mood never stops smiling. Shame he isn't all that often in the mood, but anyhoo

Barrchello is for me quite difficult to come across.. but generally a nice chap

http://www.j-images.com/2006/f1testsilverstone406/img_0117.jpg

Jacques Villeuve is a master of hide and seek, I've never seen him in the flesh... well out of helmet and balaclava i mean, this is the closest I've got...

http://www.j-images.com/2006/f1testsilverstone406/img_9558.jpg

Montoya isn't at all hard to find, he's quite sociable in the pitlane, but i nearly always catch him in his more grumpy moments!

http://www.j-images.com/2006/f1testsilverstone406/img_9177.jpg

same with the Williams guys

http://www.j-images.com/2006/f1testsilverstone406/img_9288.jpg

For me though probably the nicest driver in the pitlane at the moment is Tiago Monteiro, one of the most approcable guys out there. I'm sure he tries to run me over everytime he sees me!

I'm also sure I had cloned that big yellow thing in the background out... oh well... obviously i did not.
