Hi,
First of all, I have done a search on this board to find answers whitout any good results.
I want to buy 37mm filters for my S45.
Witch brand should I go for, and witch should I avoid?
Brand I saw ( Hoya, Sunpak, Sony, Kenko, M&K, Kodak, Tiffen )
The specific filters I'm looking for are :
Circular Polarizer
ND
IR
Thanks and if i has already been answered please let me know where.

if you got the money, go for hoya and tiffen. i would suggest online auctions for the best deal. Sunpak makes a very cheap polarizer for 10 bucks and it has done a good job. Hoya and tiffen polarizers run pretty high.

Tiffen is a great brand. I have a couple of tiffen close-up filters that I got for like 15 bucks w/ shipping off of eBay and they are super clear/nice. Try eBay and 2filter.com! Great prices w/ those. I've had positive results w/ 2filter too so thats no problem.. be careful on eBay though (check feedback)

Thanks,
So I'll probably go for any of those 2 brands (Hoya & Tiffen)
And don't worry about ebay, I'm getting use to it!

The best filters are generally made of optical glass instead of sheet glass.
Brass threads are good (less chance of seizing up and leaving you with a filter you can't remove.)
The best filters I have ever owned have been B+W filters (http://www.schneideroptics.com/filters/filters_for_still_photography/). They are great.
Highly recommended, but likely overkill for a point and shoot! If you're going to be using the filter a large amount, get the best you can easily afford. If you're just playing around, try to keep your cost down (maybe get another filter too to play with.)
For IR see http://cliffshade.com/dpfwiw/ir.htm/ it may help you decide what type of IR filter to get. I have used some black slide film as a quick filter.

I use Hoya filters. I have:
ND +8
R72
Circular Ploarizer
+10 Close-Up
I love them all. I'm pretty much a newbie though, so I don't really know what my opinion is worth in this regard. I posted a few infrared images, shot with the R72, and my G2. You can find them here if you're interested:
