You may want to check it out.
Here is my question. Would this lens be better that the older Canon 70 - 210 f4 that I already own? I realize neither are "great", but then neither is my budget. Thanks.

I've never used the lens, but at that price I'm tempted. Anyone know how this would compare in sharpness to a sigma 28-300mm chz?

I went to Walmart.com to check out this deal, and their website doesn't say anything about it being an "IS" lens. Too bad, that would have been a steal.

Read the description: "...and features an image stabilizer for sharp pictures under low-light conditions."

Stay away from the 75-300 at any price. No contrast, flares, sofft most of the range. It will make you digital SLR look bad.

Not an "L" lens but not a bad lens at all. At $258+/- it's good bang for the buck. I paid $309 for mine and have no regrets.
Would I rather have a 70-200 f2.8L? Or maybe a 100-400 IS L? Sure, but at $1650/$1400 I'll leave them to people who need them to make a living.

No contrast? Wouldn't that mean photos turn out all grey?

LOL something like that. I use this lens once a week and its a great mid level lens. My work is mainly studio work, and the lens renders the same contrast as the 28-135 I have no complaints. No flares (I use the lens hood) and all the 10d images are soft thats understood.
I doubt that walmart has these lenses really, and if they do it's a misprint and is the 75-300 (non IS) version.

Aren't they supposed to hand you the IS version if they advertise it for that price, even though they may have meant it to be the non IS?
You could print the page ...

No the have "not responsible for typo" advertising clauses Im sure.

Well, if you're interested and they come back in stock, I'd say go for it. While they may not send you the IS lens, I'm sure they'll take it back for free with the image on the site and the text both showing the IS one.
At least you won't be out any thing to try.

Well, I would imagine that the lens that's being advertized HAS TO BE the IS version. It says so right in the ad and even on the picture. Besides, the non IS version costs less than $200 so you'd really get ripped if you didn't get the IS version and would have a legitimate cause for complaint.

I looked at the Walmart site and the photo of this lens clearly shows that it's an IS lens. Maybe some low level Walmart type messed this up, but it would be very tough for them NOT to sell you this lens or risk the rath of many, many agencies.

But this is more than just a typo - the photo shows the IS and the text mentions the image stabilization ...
Hmmm, still interested in the outcome though.

How did you order one? It says out of stock and there is no add to cart button for out of stock items?

I ordered one right away when I saw it. By the time I posted here and re-checked the walmart site they were out.

Oh..and i must say-
the 75-300 doesn't make the 10D look bad,the 10D makes the 75-300 look good(as it does with all not so good lenses)

Some guys over at DPREVIEW.COM ordered this lens and have received it already. It is not the IS model as depicted. They returned the lens for a refund.

Well all Canon lenses are imports,. they are made in the far east,. (mostly Japan) So when Walmart says import they mean just that,. not grey market. :)
Oh well,.. of course it was too good to be true. :(
