Hi everybody: I want to use a B+W UV filter with MRC coating on the 16.35L (77mm filter diameter).

Will the regular F-Pro rim be to thick and cause vignetting on my fullframe 5D? Do I need to get the slim version (which doesn't accept a lens cap... :( ?

Has anyone got experience with that combination?

Thanks for your valued input,

Tim

From my experience with the 5D and filters on the 16-35L, you'll notice significantly more vignetting at 16mm with any filter put on it. It didn't bother me, but if it's an issue for you then you might want to reconsider.

Thanks for your reply, Ed.

BTW, has anyone used this lens with a polarizer? - I know that with wide angle lenses polarizers can sometimes cause funny skies (I have some experience with a 24mm lens + pola...)

I'm just wondering whether it's worth getting a polarizer for the 16-35L at all? Has anyone used a CPL on this lens successfully?

Cheers,

Tim

Schnieder Optic / B+W makes an ultra thin one, the filter is about $180.
