I have photographed BrittonJack (http://brittonjack.com/) (Britton Cameron and Jack Sizemore) a number of times, including a little trip around my little valley for some CD material. I photographed them once before at the Chumash Casino Resort for a benefit. And I photographed them with Danielle Peck at a private concert from which I used pictures for a Custom White Balance thread here at POTN, see http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157316 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157316&highlight=custom+white+balance) for details.

In this concert they were opening for LeAnn Rimes (http://leannrimes.com/) (see http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=159852) at the Chumash Casino Resort. I had one body with my 300mm f/2.8 and one with my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. Britton, the one with unkempt hair, is lively, exuberant and the talker. Jack, hairless, is softer spoken almost to the extent of being a sideman for Britton even though he quite well spoken and very personable ... he used to be with Lone Star ... he's just naturally quieter. But the two of them have great chemistry and have been friends for years and years.

Without further ado, some images of BrittonJack:

It does look rather like a dress rehearsal, eh? :-) It was the real deal, but everything was being held back for LeAnn ... always the way with the opening acts. They saw the images today at the same time I put them up here and are both very pleased with them.

Nice stuff, I like the head stock shot. I am quite sure Steve will like it as well.

What were they doing in this shot, both playing the same guitar?

I've not heard of these guys, are they a regional or local act?

Tay, thanks, and yes, I hope Steve will like it! :-)

I think it started spontaneously, but now in every performance for this song, Britton kneels down and uses Jack's guitar for percussion, tapping on it while Jack continues to play. The crowd usually loves (I've seen it five or six times while shooting them) it.

They are climbing the ladder. My friend Rick Barker of Nashville to You Acoustic Radio Tour ran into them in Nashville on a trip to promote his tour. Their management at the time wasn't doing anything for them and he just happened to have the right connection and bargained them a good deal of some sort. They hired Rick to be their interim management and he has worked like hell to get them exposure. They have a CD, are on the Nashville to You collection CD Volume 1, and are now managed by Fitzgerald-Hartley who also manage talent like LeAnn Rimes. I think they need more of a "show" to go any bigger, but that may be what is happening with their management. I don't know if they are signed with a label at the moment. Jack is recently married to Amy Dalley, another well known singer/songwriter you may know.

As you know, I am not a country music fan, but I dearly love the country music people ... much more my style and speed than the Rock groups. And they are all so nice, humble and unpretentious (almost all) that it is a pleasure to work with them. Even many of the biggest acts, such as Willie and Loretta Lynn have had no restrictions on shooting for me ... and Randy Travis and Clay Walker were the same ... none of this big ego stuff and try to grind every last penny out of everyone! Just down home friendly.

I like 2+3 although I think that a tigher crop would look more dramatic and the mic stand in 3 is unfortunate. 4 is nice - a typical crisp well coloured dwight closeup. The guys face in the bottom left is great - really adds to the picture. Don't like 5 - his facial expression is amusing enough but overall the pictures seems a bit nothing to me.

With the collage - any reason you have gone with such extreme angles for the inset pictures? Makes it kind of hard to look at.

Brad, yup, tighter crops on 2 & 3, there are always mic stands and other paraphenalia in the way at concerts, and the last one requires some familiarity with Britton to appreciate ... that is his "intense" face and posture. Collages, always interesting ... I wanted to emphasize/outline sort of, Britton and Jack. Also, I do so many of these that I just try to make them each somewhat different but have only so many tricks that I have thought of. And while they might be hard to see in this 1000 pixel version, when printer 20" x 30" they would be OK. :-) Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
