This is my first ever website, but I'm really looking for honest critiques.

Maybe a little better if the right and bottom photos from the main page weren't cut off?

Like the mouseovers! Did you do the glowing graphics (for the mouseovers) yourself? If so, how big are they? Seemed to take 1/2 a sec to load on my cable connection, suggesting non-optimized graphics, but I could be wrong...

I like the colors and the layout. Very professional looking! A little busy for me, but I'm weird! :-)

thanks, the rollovers were done in imageready with slices, so its the same image just adding a layer style from the blending mode when rolled over.

i really wish I knew flash better, they always look so much cleaner

Really liked the photos, and how they were sorted. The Flash part outstanding, perhaps would think a future addition such as slideshow, or some other niceties would make it even better. But I was really impressed, now I am gonna have to get out and take some more photos to feel better about myself !!...
About the home page, nice mouse-over effect, personal opinion is I dont like the greenish-bluish buttons with the brown-like background, but I am just a person, not a pro or a color expert. Once more complementing on those pics

Not a big fan of the color scheme or the text effexts (beveled, shadows, ect) looks a little too much like someone just discovered the Photoshop Layer Blending Options to me. Personally i like things simple and clean. The black and white photo on the main page of the 2 kids kind of jumped out at me as being a little too blurry or out of focus, maybe just needs sharpening.... those are my initial critical thoughts. I like the wildlife and tulip photos, some very nice images in there.... one thought, I'm not sure how smart it is to post a list of all the equiptment you own complete with links to the prices on B&H. In 2 seconds I did a Whois search of your site, found your home address and if I can find that so can any thief out there. Just a thought. It's not potential clients care how much you paid for your lenses.

The colors are really different but it looks good together kinda southwest looking.
I am not much on beveling to me it takes away from the pics.
I do like the film around the bird pic maybe try that on the images on the first page instead of the beveling and frames.

thanks all for the comments.

I guess with the colors I've seen sooo many black websites with white text that I wanted to do something different to stand out. I'm sure its a love it or hate it thing, so we'll see for now.

I guess thats the price of the information age. If someone really wanted to find me it wouldn't be that hard, and thats why we're insured, right? I debated over whether to include it, and my rationale was that there are so many "pros" that are out shooting weddings and whatnot with a rebel and kit lens that I wanted to ensure any potential clients that they will have the best tools to start with.

Just an add on to the previous comment... do prospective clients know much about equipment anyway...???

ok, I am going to give you my option. But I find the page fist to large on the screen. anyone using anything less than 1280x1024 is going to find it hard to see everything at once. The main page is made of images, which there are too many of. A web browser only loads about 3 images at any given time. Anyone using a slow internet connection wont be bothered to check out the rest of the site.

I didn't mind the colours, or the bevels, Just keep the bevels down to a min.

Things I would change. Make sure that the web page can be viewed on a screen at least 1024x768 with out scrolling left and right. Don't worry about the height. I would have each link an image and everything else text. This will cut down the speed of the page.

Apart from that I liked the site.
