The beautiful beach of Orewa, few days ago. 10-22 @ 10mm.

Very nice but I'm seeing effects of over sharpenning or high compression levels, especially noticeable on the cloud in the middle of the shot.
Do You agree ?

Yes, of course: also this image had to be compressed with a compression factor 25. That's too much. On the other hand I could have reduced the dimensions of the image, but it seems to me that it is already too small.
It's hard to show such a detailed landscape in only 100 Kibyte!

It's just a shame that the compression/resizing has harmed an otherwise excellent shot.
I use Photoshop Elements to resize to 800 pixels then "save for web" to around the 100KB size

I don't get these issues
I think I'm right in saying....
If you host your shots on say...Photobucket the 100KB rule does not specifically apply, it's only there to help other users who don't have the luxury of Broadband/cable etc.Hosting them on PTON however is a different matter.
What I'm getting at is your shots don't have to suffer, there are ways to get round this.
Just trying to help Buddy :)

Many thanks... and compliments for your impressive Scottish landscape!
Usually I try to avoid Photoshop but, seeing your results, I think that I should not! ;-)

Lovely. Nice foreground framing, with the beach leading you into the photo, and to the interesting sky.

Very nice. Love the sky, the compression doesn't bother me, it goes with the territory.

Very nice photo of what looks like a lovely place. I find the shadows from the trees at the bottom of the frame a bit distracting. Wonder if cropping and or cloning them out would help.

I meant to suggest possibly cropping the bottom part as well so to focus on the beach and sky.

I like it a lot, don't see much compression effect. All our shots suffer in order to meet the constraint.

Good old Orewa.
Nice shot. It looks fine on my screen too.

Thanks for the kind comments.
I do have some other shots from the same place (the lookout at the end of the beach) without the trees and/or their shadows. I thought that they could help to understand the distances and proportions (for instance: the white pixels at the centre of the image are seagulls and men!), but if you say they are distracting I can easily get rid of them.

I've shot from there personally, I know it's a long beach, and yeah it is hard to show that in the photo

Here there is a shot without the shadows of the trees on the beach...

After driving past several times, I've yet to stop at that point to take a shot. :o
