Just got it from one of the Japanese magazine about a new Sony model ( 8M 7 X optical F828 Sony digicam)

What make this one unique is that it can take dual memory - that of course includes compact flash.

Looks like memory stick is to die like Betamax . Well Sony deserves that in making almost proprietary memory card.

Well being a Canon fan capable of using a newer type of memory over FAT 16 limit - 2 G, we are lucky . At least I can save money to buy one . But for now , I am ok with two 256 M.

If true, all I can say is, "Hooray for our side."

Sony is a wonderful company with a long history of really good, innovative products. Unfortunately, they have too often tried to force proprietary gizmos on us that would lock us into buying other Sony products.

I own a Vaio laptop that has a memory stick slot. It's my second Sony laptop, and the memory stick slot was not a factor in my decision to purchase. In fact, it has never had a memory stick in it because I don't own one.

I also own a Clie PDA with a memory stick slot. It's never been used, either.

On the other hand, I've owned a half dozen digital cameras by three different manufacturers, and they all use the CF card. Probably the only reason I never owned a Sony digital camera was because of their decision to use a non-standard memory medium. Too bad, too, because some of their cameras are pretty nice.

Maybe Sony has recognized that there are more like me.

Sony makes very good digital camcorders. I will always get my camcorders from them.

But, when it comes to digital cameras, I'll stick with Canon all the way!

Call me "brand loyal by product categories"! :D
