I would just like to thank the D30 community. I just got my D30 a few days ago and was very dissapointed at first with the "point-and-shoot" results. However, after following some of the advice in these forums I occasionaly hit upon the magic combination for a particular subject that just blows me away. I am confident that with practice (what better medium than digital?), I will become a much better photographer with the D30. For me taking pictures is akin to meditation, I always try to "see" the finished result in my mind's eye and more than any other camera the D30 brings these two points closer together.

Here's my setup for those interested:

Canon D30
Battery Grip
2 x 512 Kingston CF (waiting on the rebate!)
500EX E-TTL Flash
San Disk USB Reader
Canon USM 28-105
Epson Stylus Photo 1280

For workflow, I use Breeze Download and BreezeBrowser to convert RAW to 16bit Linear Tiff for tweaking and prints. I store all the RAW files in dated folders (using the 'flattern date' option in Downloader) and archive them to DVD+RW. For web, I user the excellent Gallery system for PHP and Apache-based servers. Kudos to Barat and his team (http://www.menalto.com/projects/gallery/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index)

I also have an EOS Elan II body, and 380EX for film and carry a Canon S40 with me while on business trips - it fits nice in my laptop bag...

On my wish list is the 100-400 IS USM lens from Canon...

I will be testing my camera to see if it needs to be calibrated asap, because it does always seem to be 1 or more stops underexposed.

Best,

Alex
