Just picked up my WP-DC700 yesterday.

Is it meant to be waterproof without the lub?

And whats the go with the tri-pop attachment part. I dont see how you would use one underwater, could in the rain but would ruin the tri-pod. My only decent idea is if you wanted to atach the camera to somehting like an external light thing in the handels.

This thing looks like its gonna rule!

The lube is used on the sealant ring, more than likely it increases the effectiveness of the seal, stops both sides sticking together when you open it and the act of spreading it on will make sure any tiny objects like hair or sand are removed.

You can mount underwater lihkting and/or flashes onto the tripod mount.

Will need a longer tripod the further you go out to sea, as the case only works to 100ft.

Clean your seal before applying the lub to the o-ring, otherwise you'll just be pushing the dirt around.

The case is only waterproof witht he lub, but it will be water resistant without it (meaning that getting wet without waterpressure (rain, spray)- it should keep out the water). Once you go into the water (diving, snorkeling) or water hits the camera case with force, you'll need the lub.

It may be a pain, but it's a small investment of time to keep you camera functioning! The water pressure can force water though any small gap caused by grit, damaged or improperly used seal.

Mines mainly used for a boat, does get a bit wet out there with spray and as u read in my othre post, from the back step of the boat flinging back into the boat. Really anoying.

As for swimming, i'd definatally use it then. But for general boat use i was trying to avoid it.

Still not sure when i take it ont he ski's with me, i "shouldn't" but no ones perfect.
