Well Lighted, good exposure and color balance. Cropped a little tight - would like to see more of the subject - much mystery about where things go, etc.

ouch!! great shots, though you might increase the saturation a bit on the second one. just my 2 cents :)

That later shot showing all 3 makes a better photograph, in my opinion, because it puts it in better perspective.

I will try to boost saturation next time I process these pictures, although the strong colours of their dresses risk to give an unnatural look...
Bob, thank you for your enthusiastic comment, it feels nice reading this from you.
Please allow me to show you 2 last pictures from this event. I will re-process all this and probably make it b&w in the future (I came back from India 2 days ago). So, any input regarding post processing might be useful.
In this first shot we can see one of the "selected" ones (in the middle), while the hooks are applied to his back. I think we can read pain but also calm and concentration in his face.

Good lord... If that's how they celebrate, I would hate too see what happens when times are bad or someone gets upset.
