I've looked at numerous sites about portable storage (approx 20GB would be nice) and have seen one I quite like, the Tripper, but I can't for the life of me find any British companies selling it.
Can anyone direct me to a UK site for this? (or something of equal quality and price)
Why are we SO behind sometimes??????? It's really frustrating.
Thanks,
Susan

Thanks Jeff. It looks about right. I've found a special offer for the lesser version (non-usb2 which I don't have anyway). All I need to know now is whether it is suitable for recording raw files from the 10D? Or is that not an issue?

Susan,
There are many portable harddisk device and all are similar features. The only difference may be the speed and also the support of different memory card format. For CF used in 10D, nearly all these storage device can support it.
Tripper and X-Drive II can also be used for 10D. Although you may not use USB 2.0 at this moment, but I think you may buy a newer version for better support in future.

Hi Susan
No problems using the X Drive with Raw files, the copy facility just copies all data from the media card.
I would go for the USB2 although you might not have or use USB2 at the moment uploading 1500 photos would take a much shorter time, I have found to my cost that skimping a little now can be more expensive later as your needs change

Thanks to both for the information! I have had a think about it and decided that I can see no real need for speeding up my computer and peripherals, they are quite good at the moment, so I have ordered the XS Drive with 20GB for £165 including VAT and postage. I know what you mean about regretting it later, I'm a "bigger, better and faster" person myself, usually, but I feel this one is right for me.

bad decision....
usb2.0 is way an advantage...
otherwise, transfering info is DAMN slow!
and with 20 gb..

Hi Hextor,
That would be true if all my connections were USB2 in the first place. They aren't and I can't see me changing anything for a long time.
In anycase, something more practical, exciting and totally different may come out way before I feel I need an upgrade....8-))
