I just got my D30 and have not used it extensively. I shot some family pictures and got some bad results with the "redeye reduction" on. Most of the eye was red on some of the subjects. Any help would be great. (I'm shooting in high res. JPEG)

Red eye goes with flash pictures regardless of whether you use "red eye preventition" or not. Get good at removing red eye with Photoshop or some other photo editor if you plan to take flash pictures of people and animals.

hi...

if you're really serious about getting rid of it...you need to get the eyes off the focal plane of the flash...i.e. don't shoot directly at your subjects OR just get an external flash...

a trick that i've heard of (that my wife says works) is to place an index card (or some other fudge) over the flash as you shoot (i haven't tried this but who knows : )

yes...the last route is photoshop of course...but if you're shooting jpegs (even in large/fine mode) you're going to lose quality making compressing it into a jpeg again...

all in all..the best solution is to get a flash unfortunately...i NEVER use the built in flash if i've got any creature with eyes on it because of the same problem you're having...
