I have read the favorable reports on using RAW mode. Are those files as easily emailed as JPEGs (by zoom browser compression?) Or are those primarily for high quality printing? thanks.

Hi,
As far as my understanding goes the RAW format can be e-mailed quite easily, provided the recipient has a suitable RAW converter installed on their 'puter; however I believe the RAW format was primarily for high-quality image production as there was no data loss when exported from the camera allied to the fcat that you could adjust the parameters within the RAW format too - unlike TIFF, JPEG, etc.
Cheers,

You can of course email RAW files, but they are quite big, and as Barry pointed out, the recipient must have compatible software.
Usually for email you will want to convert to JPEG and reduce its size (number of pixels) to 800 x 600 or perhaps 640 x 480. This will be easier and faster to email and will be the appropriate size to display in a window.
It's pointless to email all four megapixels if the recipient is just going to look at the photo on his monitor. You keep the original 4 MP file for printing and editing. You make a reduced copy for email and web use.
