View Full Version : HELP! Printer Problem?

I am using a Canon G3, Canon s9000 printer and Photoshop Elements.

I can download jpegs from my camera to ZoomBrowser and get nice prints using the native jpeg file from there, BUT after I open that same jpeg file in PE, use Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, and USM, and try to print the manipulated photo, I get a very messy, pixelated looking photo :(

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Thanks y'all for your help!

Tim

Sounds like a color management issue.

I assume you're using a Windows operating system.

First, make sure your monitor is calibrated with the Adobe Gamma utility in the Windows control panel.

Try setting PSE to "No color management" and when you print preview check the "Show more options" and select "Print Management" from the drop down box.

Make sure that the Print Space Profile is set to "Same as Source".

Then, in the printer option settings, make sure everything is set to the highest quality and under custom print quality move the slider to the "Fine" setting and the halftone is set to 'diffusion'. Also, ensure the ICM box under the color options is not checked.

Is the pixel size of the saved file smaller than the original. Is the compression extremely high?

I've saved by using Save As (in Microsoft's Picture It!), and a few times the've ended up shrunk even though I did not rescale the picture. I had to go into the file options and correct the size.

What size prints can I expect to get from a Canon a70? (Well, from shots from an a70). Its 3.2MP.

Thanks,
David

Simple fix: I had "RESAMPLE IMAGE" checked by mistake in the Resize dialog box, DOH!
Thanks y'all for your advice, much appreciated :)
