I'm curious if this has happened to anybody else. I got my G1 with a gigabyte IBM Microdrive about a year ago. Since then, I've taken some 1600 pictures, virtually all in RAW mode. My camera is running the 1.0.1 firmware.

I've had two failures where the thumbnail was okay but the image data itself was corrupt. ZoomBrowser, the latest RawImageConverter, and BreezeBrowser all just say "there was an error" and give up. CRW (the raw converter by Dave Coffin), generates a picture with noise on top and some pretty rainbow patterns below that, needless to say, bears no resemblance to the original.

I'm assuming that the picture will never be recoverable. Has anybody else had this problem? Any tricks I should try?

I had a few of those 'bad' RAW's in my G1. One thing that opened some of them was bad temporary files in system user's temp directory. When I removed all those temporary files, some of the bad RAW's opened again. Worth a try.

For example, in my Win2000 those temp RAW's are in C:Documents and SettingsPekka SaarinenLocal SettingsTemp and they are files like 'raw394.tmp'

I've had that happen a couple of times with my Pro90 too. Seems that it isn't an uncommon problem and when it does happen, there is nothing you can do about it...
