Nice shots Al - unusual eye pattern, I'd never heard of spitting spiders before, so did a google and came up with this interesting page:

DaveThanks Dave - and thanks for the link too. I did not know the bit about them actually measuring the distance to their prey. I had one once where I tried to get it to spit by introducing a bug to the box. Unfortunately, the bug was a twig wilter so both bug and spider were gassed by gases from me handling the bug :(

Very unique capture. Glad we dont have these around these parts. :D :D :DThanks BE. They are actually quite useful to have around. Although they are wanderers, they do seem to like specific localities, and they really do a good job on fishmoths. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any fishmoths for ages (missing the photo op :)).

great capture Al......unique looking spiderThanks Alan - the high carapace does give this particular spider a unique look. There are quite a few with strange looking abdomens, but I don't know of any others like this (although that doesn't say too much :D).
