The Taybank www.thetaybank.com (http://www.thetaybank.com) is a live music pub on the banks of the River Tay at Dunkeld in Perthshire. My wife Carolyn and I were there on Sunday evening after she attended a classical music seminar. The tutor was Laurence Perkins, professional bassoonist, conductor, recording musician and teacher http://laurenceperkins.members.beeb.net/index.htm
Laurence and Andy Turnbull (classical clarinettist and folk musician) produced some bombards, small pipes and whistles as we sat in the garden. One thing led to another and a lot of good folk music was made over the next hour or two.
All these shots were taken with my 350D and newly acquired E28 f1.8. It proved its worth in the relatively low light and the combination is small, light and unobtrusive. Perfect for when you are sitting right next to performing musicians. Between shots I picked up the low D whistle you can see on the table and tried to harmonise with a few of the tunes. I'm hopeless ... but nobody minded as folk music is naturally inclusive. I think it made my photography more acceptable as well.
