I did a leg of a tour with fingerstyle guitarist Pat Kirtley last week. Is he good? He was the 1995 United States Fingerstyle Guitar Champion. Yeah, he doesn't suck.

These were taken at the Laurel Packing House, in Kelowna BC, last Saturday. Not too dynamic, primarily due to the fact that he's a solo performer, but I'm generally pleased with how the shots came out:

The blobs of light in this shot are from tea-light candles hung in metal "trees":

Comments, criticism, yadayadayada... You know the drill...

I would like to have seen one where we could read the name on the headstock. There is no EXIF ... what sort of lighting? What is "fingerstyle"?

The lighting was a combination of daylight through a rather enormous window, and eight stage lights: four white, one each of red, green, orange, and blue.

Fingerstyle is when you play guitar using your fingers instead of a guitar pick. Pat uses a thumbpick (you guessed it: he wears it on his thumb), as well as his fingers.

He played a version of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" which was simply jaw-dropping...

I really like the first, although I would crop a bit more of the rhs and top to balance the photo a little better. The idea of the second with the banner is good, just not quite sure if you pulled the composition off completely. Not sure if the lighting was changing shot to shot but the white balance doesn't look that consistent and his face doesn't look quite right - especially on the last. Thanks for sharing!
