Interesting photo, the horizon is eerily perfect :P Tis a bit grainy scan, the colors seem a tad washed out. (The sky and water don't look right). If you were aiming for a bit of a dreamy photo, I think you did it :P Good pic

I digitally sharpened the sky and straightened the sky - water junction with smudge tool. Have no idea whether the painting like effect you mention came out of it?
