Wow! It's bigger than I expected and lighter than I expected!

Makes the camera feel like a massive rock. Very solid. It actually makes the camera easier to hold with one hand. Now two hands actually have somewhere to hold onto for much more stable shooting. Instaed of just supporting the lens, my left hand can anchor to the grip and still hold the lens. And like many reviews say, it balances the camera vs. lenses much nicer. The 5D used to try and flip forward out of my hand if I held it with just my right hand. It seems adding a little extra weight on the camera side, and relocating the battery further down seems to have really helped.

With my 24-105 f/4L, 5D/grip, and a 430EX, the total package comes in around 4.5lbs !!!! I pick up a Canon point and shoot, or even my G2 and now i think..."whoa! these are flimsy!"

Overall I am very happy with it!

Here is a size comparison with my 24-105 and 50mm for reference.

I can't imagine shooting another DSLR w/o a grip. Always nice to 'ave. ;)

I'm considering one of these. Your recommendation sounds good for me to buy.

Nice acquisition! IMO, grips are essential.

After two days I already can't imagine the camera without this!

Took me a little longer than two days to get used to the grip on the 5D, but now I couldn't do without it! The balance seems so right now.

Now you gotta buy a biiger bag to hold that sucker!

Actually, the the Lowepro 200 Sling bag actually holds it just find with the grip! I took the divider I wasn't using and but it horizontally about one inch up in the middle as a "lens support." No real need, but now the lens rests on something since the grip holds the camera a little higher. The bags works just fine though.

With all the portraits I take the grip is invaluable. I wonder if the grip is Canon's way of telling me to buy a 1Ds.
