I got my Rebel XT recently, and realize I need better lenses but I thought a couple of shots I took of my wife this afternoon came out pretty well. We headed out to the local arboretum for some photography practice. Both were taken on a cloudy day with the Thrifty Fifty at f1.8.
I 've been lurking awhile learning from all of you (I hope!) and haven't posted any of my shots before so I hope I don't mess this up :)
Thanks for any comments.

Nice shots. They seem a tad out of focus, but the second one is very good. I like the composition and the dof is perfect. Good shots and welcome to the forum.
(A small thing I noticed was that they where both a bit over-exposed/bright - but you didn't lose any detail in the bright areas so it could easily be pp'd in photoshop).
Good job man

I agree that the second picture is great. The pose works really well, and seems very natural.

I think in both pictures, your focal point was a little off her face. The first one seems to be on the tree behind her and the second one seems to be on the N on her jacket. You might try a slightly higher F stop.
